The meeting was held in the recently remodeled College of Medicine Learning Center Auditorium located in the West Tower Building. Attendees included faculty, students, staff, CIM mentees and mentors, and other interested parties including CBC representative Karen Snapp. The third CIMposium, similarly to the first and the second sessions, focused on FDA regulatory issues with an emphasis on pre-clinical and clinical development.

The program began with a warm welcome from Dimitri Azar – MD, MBA, Dean, College of Medicine, Distinguished University Professor and BA Field Chair of Ophthalmologic Research, Professor of Ophthalmology, Pharmacology and Bioengineering at UIC.

Presenters included:

  • Pat Frank (Founder of Patricia Frank & Associates, Inc.)

  • Ric Newman (RnD Services)
  • Lilli Zakarija (EdgeOne Medical Inc.)

The meeting covered such topics as the management of the development process, including “do’s” and “don’ts” of communicating with the FDA, preparation of preclinical information for Investigational New Drug (IND) applications, key pre-clinical considerations for devices and clinical development in a regulatory environment.

The fourth and final session in the CIMposia series will be held later this year at MATTER.
